With 10 research groups covering disciplines of agroecology, crop and animal sciences, agricultural economics and social sciences as well as agricultural engineering, the institute provides comprehensive capacity in tropical agricultural sciences with profound empirical and theoretical knowledge of the whole spectra of tropical agricultural systems. In the focus are challenges related the sustainable transformation of agri-food systems addressing global food security, climate change adaptation and mitigation as well as biodiversity conservation.
