Profilbeschreibung:
Antibody Engineering is our key activity. First, human antibodies are discovered by phage display. We use our billion-clone human antibody gene libraries to provide sequence defined monoclonal antibodies without the need to use experimental animals. Using the power of in vitro display technologies, we can engineer antibodies with pre-defined biochemical properties, and improve their properties by in vitro evolution. Antibodies and other protein domains are designed, assembled at the molecular level, tuned and adapted to achieve specific functions in biological systems or technical applications. We further use phage display based methods like ORFeome display to discover novel biomarkers and vaccines. Our research has not only provided new concepts for antibody engineering, diagnostics and therapy, but we also care for their translation into practical use, illustrated by 5 spin-offs to date, and many of our antibodies are used in applications in research, diagnostics and in the clinic.
