Profilbeschreibung:
The Blank lab focuses on fundamental and applied aspects of microbial metabolism. Research on metabolic networks in silico and in vivo provides a deeper understanding of cell functions and thus contributes to rational strain development. The developed microbes use sustainable carbon (from biomass, CO2, and waste (e.g., plastics)) as substrate for the production of chemicals and materials. Product examples include plastic monomers and glycolipids. The institute is equipped with dedicated analytical and fermentation laboratories. The laboratory is partner in the Werner Siemens foundation century project catalaix (https://catalaix.com/).
