The Federal Ministry of Education and Research is once again looking for the best "green talents".

With the Green Talents competition, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research has been promoting the exchange of innovative green ideas and the emergence of international collaborations since 2009 - because the challenges of the future can only be met together. Under the patronage of Federal Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger, the competition has now entered a new round. Young researchers can apply to the Green Talents - International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development 2022 with their ideas for a sustainable future.

Commitment to sustainability honored

For years, the BMBF has been honoring young researchers for their achievements and commitment to greater sustainability with this award. The prerequisite for participation in the Green Talents competition is that the work must contribute to the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015. The competition is primarily aimed at young researchers who are not German citizens and do not reside in Germany.

Long-term cooperation intended

The Green Talents competition aims to lay the foundation for long-term collaborations between the award winners and German research institutions. A jury of four renowned experts will review the entries and select the 25 best. These will then be given the opportunity to learn about the work of leading German sustainability researchers and companies and exchange ideas at a virtual science forum lasting several days in October 2022.

The award also includes a fully funded research stay of up to three months at an institution of the awardees' choice, as well as access to the Green Talents alumni network, which currently includes 307 scientists from 72 countries.
